Meet Louise

Louise is an illustrator who lives in Frome.

She draws everyday and has drawn something every day for as long as she can remember. After having two children she has still found a way to fit her illustration into her daily routine.

For three years Louise found a place as an in house illustrator for fast paced online magazine 'Standard Issue' (now a podcast). Founded by Sarah Millican and run entirely  by women, the magazine led to many commissions. The fast turnaround and frenetic style gave her a strong creative direction and an ability to work at speed with her trusty 0.4mm nib pen.

A  significant portion of her work is in the creation of family portraits. These are personalised illustrated group portraits, where Louise works closely with the family to create tailor made drawings of family members, pets, family homes and memories to create unique works. Louise draws a lot of pleasure from running her own little business, while working around the children and connecting with families, drawing their family members past and present and especially incorporating the children's ideas.

In her personal work Louise has an ongoing interest in old vintage photographs of the theatre, circus and pantomime. She enjoys adapting and playing with these bygone characters and taking them to magical otherworldly places. This is an ongoing project.

Since having children drawing and illustrating while also bringing up the children has become the norm. It has become second nature to illustrate fast and energetically in short bursts to create works before 'nap-time' is over. All works for sale here have been made in this way.

Educated at Wimbledon School of Art.

Some of her clients include

Royal Opera House, Little Bulb Theatre, Standard Issue Magazine, Sarah Millican, Penguin, Giphy, Billboard,  Lazerian Dog Project,  Battersea Affordable Art Fair and residency in the wonderful Walled Garden in Mells.
