To the right, i’ve depicted Boniface’s killer as an older man, carrying travel chests through the marsh onto the waiting boats, alongside baskets of food and wine after killing Saint Boniface. the thieves on the boat have broken into a violent fight with axes and swords after drinking the stolen wine and arguing how to divide the riches. They soon discover the chests are full of books instead of the gold and treasures expected. The contents-including the re leather-bound book_are thrown into the waters of the marsh.
